Cause

The direct thermal mode has been activated.

Ribbon transport takes not place if the printer is set to direct thermal mode.

Troubleshooting

Set the printer to thermal transfer mode in the driver or software.

On several printers the operating mode can be set in a service tool (e.g. TSC Diag Tool).
