Cause

The operating system does not recognize the printer modell. An automatic installation is not possible.

The printer is listed in the Windows Device Manager in the category Other Devices.

Troubleshooting

If a suitable driver for new printer models is missing, please choose Generic / Text Only for eXtra4 software.

Older printers have an outdated firmware. hier an Firmware-Update is necessary.

New Windows versions need specific USB-ID, which older firmwares do not supply.

After an Windows Update, this can happen to a formerly working device.
